Immigration Alert - Japan announces revised immigration laws

The revised laws were enacted on 15 July 2009 with corresponding procedural changes expected within three years by cabinet order. Changes include the requirement for foreign nationals who stay in Japan for longer than three months, to possess a residence card ("zairyu card") replacing the former alien registration card.
